"Uncle Dave" was born on April 4, 1938 in Glendale, CA and was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday July 3, 2010. Dave spent most of his life living in Manhattan Beach with his parents Ed and Bette Engle. He worked for the County of Los Angeles in the maintenance department at the South Coast Botanical Gardens in Palos Verdes for twenty-eight years. He will be most remembered by his community as "Uncle Dave" who attended youth and high school sporting events, watching his niece and nephew play. He loved to be active and was involved in recreation fitness classes and as well as the El Segundo Rotary.

He was also an active member of Journey of Faith Church in Manhattan Beach and participated in many Palos Verdes Breakfast Club activities. His greatest passion was being a friend to all who knew him and he received the most joy in helping others. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, going to events, caring for dogs and eating. Dave never met a meal he didn't like. God used him to enrich and better the lives of everyone he met. Dave is survived by his brothers and their wives: Phil and Dru, Paul and Mary and Gene and Teri; his nieces: Heidi Beyma (husband, Mark), Krista Hart (husband, David), Kelly, Witney and Jamie Engle; his nephew and special buddy: Matthew Engle; and his three great-nieces: Haley, Sydney and Chloe.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 7 at Douglass Mortuary in El Segundo and a service will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Journey of Faith Church, 1243 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach.
