Theodore F. "Teddy" Gossard

Theodore F. "Teddy" Gossard, 97, returned to his heavenly home on March 31st, 2016.

He passed away peacefully of natural causes with his beloved wife, he called "My Darling" by his side. His devotion to his wife and his firm belief in God gave him happiness and peace.

Teddy was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 30, 1918. He served in the US Marine Corp, and was an All American basketball player for USC, where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Education.

In his career as an educator and administrator, he taught physical education and coached boys basketball at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA, where he was known as the "Gentle Giant" by the boys he coached.

He then became the Principal for Aviation High School where he managed with patience, discipline and humility. Ted was kind and soft-spoken, always had a smile and witty joke to share, and took time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. Teddy touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by his friends, family, students, and all who knew him.

Teddy is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Gossard; his two daughters, Deborah and Penny; and two grandchildren.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service and the family gratefully declines flowers and donations; but prayers, condolences and memories are welcomed and can be mailed to their residence.
