Verna Griffin-Sacchi Passed away January 17, 2011 at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael, CA with her husband Jerry Sacchi and her mother Ruth Woolman by her side. Verna is pre-deceased by her father, Vernal Woolman and her sister Linda Perry. In addition to her husband and mother, Verna is survived by her sister Jackie Stebley of Geneva, Switzerland, her step-daughter Karna, and four nieces and two nephews.

Verna was born in Hayden, Colorado August 16, 1939 where her father worked in the coal mines. The family relocated to CA where her father became employed by the airlines as a flight radio officer. This career took the family to live in many different countries. Verna lived in Lima, Peru (for which she had a special affinity) Santiago Chile, Paris, London and Geneva Switzerland. Verna had a special talent for languages and spoke fluent Spanish and French.

The family moved back to CA and Verna graduated from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach 1957. Verna was a true beach girl and enjoyed the CA lifestyle tremendously. Verna started as a Executive Secretary working for Ross Perot in Texas, at his first start-up company. Verna then worked for 29 years at Fireman's Fund Insurance as an Executive Medical Secretary - 18 years for the medical director Dr. Neuwirth, and then 11 years for the health services department.

Verna and Jerry lived in Novato CA (Bahia) for 34 years. Their leisure time was spent traveling all over the US, Mexico and Europe. Outgoing and bright, Verna had a great sense of humor and loved jokes. Verna loved their beautiful garden, was an avid reader, and especially loved her animals as if they were part of the family.

Arrangements were handled by Keaton's Mortuary in Novato CA. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
